The UN recently reports that women do 2.6 times the amount of unpaid care and domestic work that men do. These activities range from cooking, cleaning, to raising children. Aren’t those works? What differentiates male chefs with our mothers preparing our food at home? Why are women expected to do chores at the expense of themselves for free?
To reflect on all the invisible domestic labor that we often take for granted (or we women do voluntarily), the fourth session of Sinema Feminis will deal with unpaid labor as one of the invisible issues in the labor movement. Come and watch “The Second Mother” (2015) by Anna Muylaert with us and have an interesting discussion afterward about the way feminine socialization conditions women into doing unpaid works.
